He is one of the American environmental movement’s leading experts on both the vapor intrusion pathway and military facility contamination\, having provided technical assistance to and visited scores of community organizations across the U.S.  For his organization he runs two Internet newsgroups: the Military Environmental Forum and the Brownfields Internet Forum\, as well as activist discussion lists on TCE and PFAS. He has served on several ITRC (Interstate Technology & Regulatory Council) work teams on environmental remediation\, including Vapor Intrusion Mitigation\, and a dozen National Research Council committees addressing military environmental issues. In July 2011 Siegel was awarded U.S. EPA’s Superfund Citizen of the Year award for his work overseeing the Moffett Field/MEW Superfund project\, site of one of U.S. EPA’s earliest and largest vapor intrusion investigations. He served as Mayor of Mountain View\, California in 2018. \nAll Gowanus CAG meetings are open to the public.

The meeting will be held at P.S. 372\, The Children’s School\, at 215 1st Street in Gowanus\, and is open to the public. \nFrom NYSDEC’s notice: \n“The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and Department of Health (DOH) invite you to a community availability session to provide an update of New York State’s work within the Gowanus Canal neighborhood of Brooklyn. A presentation will be provided followed by individual stations for questions and discussion. The meeting will provide a review of New York State’s remedial programs\, provide an overview of work completed to date\, and information about the ongoing investigation and remediation in the Gowanus Area. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“DEC will provide interpreter services for hearing impaired persons and language interpreter services for individuals with difficulty understanding or reading English at no charge upon written request submitted no later than two weeks prior to meeting date.”
