Gowanus Canal CAG Archaeology & Historic Preservation Committee Meeting

The Gowanus Canal Community Advisory Group’s Archaeology and Historic Preservation Committee will hold its regular monthly meeting on Monday, March 3, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., via Zoom video conference.

Agenda:

• Start an Instagram account for our committee to get eyes on what we have.  Michael & Rachael are willing to work on it with daughter Rosie. He asks:
  • A: Are there existing pictures of the artifacts? Yes.
  • B: Where is the info about each object stored? For much of it, in a document prepared by the trust that includes photos and where the items were found and what they are.
  • C: Is there an existing Instagram or other social media account we can use to do this, or do we need to establish one? There is the CAG website and there is the CAG Facebook account but maybe we want something of our own?
• Let’s formulate a strategic business plan.
• Thoughts on the storyboard. Please have gone through it by the time of the meeting.
• Conduct curated exhibition planning – Johnny Thornton (Arts Gowanus) invited Peter to a Zoom meeting, along with Andrea at GCC, Sasha Chavchavadze (founder of Proteus Gowanus), and Emily Chiavelli (also with Arts Gowanus) to discuss the possibility of putting together a show of available Gowanus artifacts and art at the temporary gallery/unfinished commercial space in the new “Gowanus Wharf” building being completed on the corner of Sackett and 3rd Ave!
