In December, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP), under the supervision of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, began the second phase of construction of the 8-million-gallon combined sewer overflow (CSO) retention tank integral to the cleanup of the Gowanus Canal Superfund site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
